Live in Paris for nearly 30 years, Akiyo now travel back and forth to Tokyo. People who are captivated by the sound of her performances on YouTube and on stage come to learn from her, not only from Japan but also from Asia and North Africa. 

Akiyo made contact with the first World Lyre Congress and has participated and taught ever since. She has studied music therapy, primarily in Europe, focusing on the lyre and other instruments, in countries like Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. Akiyo's current lyre technique is based on the techniques of two individuals: first, the lyre technique of H. Gärtner, the son of a lyre maker, and second, the harp technique of E. Polonska.

Over the course of more than 20 years, she has developed performance techniques from medical instruments and created a method, which she systematized into an educational program. Meanwhile. Akiyo originally specialized in modern French music and studied early music in Spain and France, applying it to performances of early music such as Bach.

Akiyo has been teaching music for over 40 years. While I initially taught vocal music and piano, in 2005, she opened a music atelier in Paris and began teaching the lyre as well. Under the auspices of the Sorbonne University, she studied music therapy, including the lyre, as well as other forms of art therapy, at the hospital of the Goetheanum, the headquarters of R. Steiner. In 2011, she opened an NPO and a music atelier in Tokyo. She has written and composed the "Forest Cat's Fairy" series, and incorporates harpsichord performances and Renaissance/Baroque dance as a therapeutic application.

＜Career＞

After being affiliated with the Tokyo Nikikai Opera Studio, she performed on many stages as a soprano leger and appeared in TV shows and commercials. However, in 1998, she began showing early symptoms of collagen disease, which forced her to take a break. She encountered the lyre of Ms. Yuko Aoki, and in 2000, she began playing the lyre in France.

She was a member and section leader of the Munich Lyre Orchestra, led by Susanne Heinz. I performed in numerous duo concerts with her throughout Germany.

As a soloist, she has performed at historically significant venues such as the Grand Hall of the National Library of France, Milan’s Sforza Castle, the Archaeological Museum Hall in Ferrara, and at ceremonies at Paris’s Père Lachaise Cemetery.

In 2023, she resumed concerts and premiered "The Forest Cat’s Fairy" at the Matsumoto Memorial Music Guest House.
